A Video & A Question
I hope everyone had a lovely Mother's Day, whether you made someone else feel special or someone made you feel special!
In mother-related stuff, this video/blog link comes via a blog that I subscribe to, by the author R.L. LaFevers . It won't take you long to watch, but you might want to have a Kleenex handy. I wanted to include the mom's Web site in case you're interested in her story beyond what she and her son recorded in the Story Corps booth. Turns out she's an author for teens and tweens!
Interestingly, I previously have listened to this as an NPR podcast, but it took on a new dimension with the animation. I tear up a lot while listening to Story Corps, and hope I'll always be fascinated by the stories of other people.
My question is this: we're struggling to come up with something for this little person to call me. He already calls Mark by the nickname we jokingly suggested -- "Grumpy" has become "Gumpy" in translation. He can name everyone in the family but me. Considering I change diapers while the others don't, this is distressing. We've eliminated Nana, Nona, Nanni, Mimi, Mee-Maw, Granny, Grammy, Grandma, Oma, Lolli (as in Lollipop), and Kiki. Anyone have any suggestions?

Someone wanted to play ping pong with the big boys.
