Day 4: The Pass-It-Along Gift

Part of the idea of the 29-Day Giving Challenge is that anything can be a gift: a smile, holding the elevator for someone, a compliment. I *love* to buy presents for people.  I especially love it when I can afford to buy presents for no reason other than that I found something perfect for that person.  My default setting for gift-giving is "buy something," so I'm challenging myself to focus on small yet meaningful gifts.

Today I decided to brighten up the mail of two people I work with.  Since I work in a different building from the main crew, I send a lot of stuff through campus mail. Usually at work, those inter-office envelopes contain more work.  Where's the fun in that?  So, when my friend Dixie arrives at work Monday morning, she'll find last month's issue of Country Woman magazine because boy howdy that girl is COUNTRY.  My friend Amy will find a calendar with photographs I hope she can use for a work-related project.  As the magazine subscription was from my mom, and the calendar was from a non-profit, neither of these items cost me anything but the time to put them in their respective envelopes, and the thought.

It felt so good to put something fun in the mail!  I hope you either give or receive something fun in YOUR mailbox soon.

I think it's fair to say that your love language is "gifts"? I've been thinking a lot about love languages lately in relation to my girls.

    I love the giving challenge!

See, I never thought that was my love language!  I mean, I have fun with it, but if I recall correctly (it's been a while since I read the book) what I perceive myself as showing to others and valuing is acts of service . . . and I'm blessed that Mark does laundry, grocery shopping, etc.
