Sunday Musings and Day 20
There's nothing to plummet my mood quite like balancing the checkbooks. It would be really nice if the recession could end and hordes of people would decide that they'd love to take advantage of the fine inventory of land for sale in MS.
On a much happier note, I got to see one of my former students today, all grown up. They always say, "do you remember me?" and I look at their eyes because the major height gain and puberty tend to make identification harder. Happily, I remembered him *and* his name (in spite of his facial hair) and we had a lovely time catching up. Sarah thought he was cute which was a bit strange for me, but he seems to have retained his sweetness which is good. It was fun to be able to tell him a story about his first grade self which he didn't remember, and I was relieved to discover all of my mistakes, crankiness, and failures as a teacher had faded from his memory.
My gift for the day was a box of Hallmark thank you cards to someone who really likes them. They're usually quite pricey, but I discovered a sale one day and snapped up a bunch of them at 75% off! So it was fun to pass a box along and not be out loads of $$$.
Mark's truck wouldn't crank this afternoon (make that the 3rd time it's been broken down in a month), so he's off to get new batteries. I'm hoping to sew a bit this afternoon as the quilt project is all laid out on the ping pong table, waiting for me to begin. I also have books to read and review for Children's Lit, but I might save those for tonight.
Hope everyone has had a lovely Sunday, and thanks to the Wilsons for taking us out to lunch! In lieu of a relevant picture, I'll provide one I actually took.
