Day 25: Links I Love
First off, let me say I *love* Google Reader. It puts blog entries in once place so I don't have to remember URLs, or keep track of those bloggers who don't post often. Whenever they decide to post, magically, the entry appears in my Reader. I can't recommend it highly enough.
Next, let me say that I'm lazy and should put many of these in a "blog roll" on my own blog, but I haven't. Maybe someday.
Finally, let me say that it's Friday, thankfully. May we all have some serenity this weekend. Amen.
If you want all the latest on middle-grade books, there's an awesome new blog called From the Mixed-Up Files of Middle Grade Authors. I've linked you to a fabulous post on the benefits of audiobooks. I'm a huge proponent of using audiobooks with kids, and this post sums up many of my arguments quite nicely. Thanks for saving me the time, Helene.
If you like to look inside other people's lives in a brief way, and are also interested in the practice of gratitude, check out THXTHXTHX. I know little about the author, other than that she writes quirky, short, thank you notes to the people, places, objects, and experiences in her life.
For a peek at the writing process of the prolific and lauded author Jane Yolen, she keeps a journal online. She is currently in Scotland, killing me with every post.
Try Cake Wrecks for sheer silliness, and the confirmation that the world is populated with people who can't spell. And have no sense.
For baking projects no one in their right mind would ever try, Bakerella. This link will take you to the Toy Story 3 cake pops, but look at the bees to see the popsI wish I could somehow conjure up if we ever have a bee business launch.
And finally, though most people already know her, for a fine example of how having *voice* in your writing can launch a person to fame, The Pioneer Woman. I think I love the photography most, in addition to her humor, having had mixed results with the recipes I've tried.
Have a great weekend, friends! Please share any blogs you love in the comments!

Did you see where she's gotten a BOOK DEAL based on her blog? It's amazing -- it just takes one good idea and then *boom* someone is published. Cake Wrecks is on her second book. Bakerella has a book coming out. PW is hugely popular (and was on the NYT Bestseller list).
