Simple Approaches to Health
One of the blogs that I have in my reader is by a doctor. Sometimes his posts make no sense to me, to be honest. But he also ends up posting some really cool stuff. This entry is one of those cool entries I understand. It's based on Michael Pollan's eating manifesto that I haven't read but want to. But it also tackles the idea that the internet, while superficially making health easier -- for instance, when Sarah called in a panic that her friend Emily had gotten poison ivy on her face, I was able to find out quickly what to do and what not to do -- on the whole it makes it more complex and confusing. I find this to be the case especially with people my parents' age and older, who may not be as critical of media as they should be.
Let's face it: you can find a million different solutions to any given health problem, and most of them are trying to sell you something. How frustrating it must be for doctors to have patients coming in, demanding certain meds, all because they've seen a commercial on TV.
So. This week has been good for me, in terms of health. I've gone to the gym 3 days, and today will be a fourth. I've been more mindful of what I eat. My mind said that Reese's Peanut Butter cup tasted *deeeeelicious.* Things at work are slowing down to the point I can catch up on projects that have been scorching on the back burner for quite a while. In all, I'm feeling good.
I hope you are too.
