My reaction was immediate: shame at the screwed up priorities of most Americans with the focus on material wealth and superficial beauty, horror at the lives of so many children around the world, and a renewed resolve to live more simply, with less stuff. I got a good start over the weekend, and took a car loaded to the brim to the local orphan home's thrift store.
