The lovely Tara Lazar has created the children's writers' & artists' response to National Novel Writing Month: Picture Book Idea Month. The goal is to create one new picture book idea each day during the month of November. In Tara's words:
"You don’t have to write a manuscript. You don’t need potential best-seller ideas.
You might think of a clever title. Or a name for a character. Or just a silly thing like “purple polka-dot pony.” The object is to heighten your picture-book-idea-generating senses. Ideas may build upon other ideas and your list of potential stories will grow stronger as the days pass. By the end of the month, you’ll have a file of ideas to help inspire you throughout the year."
A variety of authors and illustrators have signed up to blog for inspiration. PLUS Tara has secured *prizes* for participants who sign a pledge at the end of the month stating they have faithfully recorded 30 new ideas (or more!). You do not have to post your ideas on a website or turn them in to anyone, just honestly participate. My fingers are so totally crossed for a prize -- original art by picture book illustrators! Vintage picture books! Jewelry! SQUEEEEEEE!
Artist Bonnie Adamson created the ingenious logo for this year's event, with little light bulb bugs to spark everyone's creativity. (How can I *not love* someone who has illustrated a book titled I Wish I Had Freckles Like Abby?!)
I'm IN. Are you going to join me?! I hope so!
A special thanks to my dear friend js for the encouragement.

Aww, thanks for the shout-out, Keri.
Hope the little light-bulb buggies do the trick!
