It’s Poetry Friday, and almost Independence Day. To celebrate, I’d like to recommend the poetry anthology Good Poems: American Places. Garrison Keillor (A Prairie Home Companion, The Writer’s Almanac), collected poems that had been featured on his daily radio program and were particularly American. I’ve been making my way through it slowly, savoring incredible poems that clearly evoke certain times and places, some of which I’ve been to, others I can only imagine.
