Ed DeCaria is hosting today’s Poetry Friday party over at Think Kid, Think. Hurray for Poetry Friday!Many people don’t like spiders. This is in spite of Charlotte, the kindest friend in the history of literature. I wrote this poem after reading a non-fiction book about “insects and bugs” that included two different spiders, neither of which are web-building spiders. I felt this to be a terrible editorial omission, consider the book is designed for young readers just formulating their concepts of what spiders do. (The book also said insects have eight legs.
